Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that slum dwellers have shown that they have more civic sense than those who live in high-rise towers, referring to the dramatic increase in Covid-19 cases in Mumbai.
"It is commonly thought that people in high rises are more educated and people living in slums are less educated," Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said at a press conference on Friday. Residents of high-rise buildings in Mumbai would not have seen such a dramatic increase in cases of infection if they followed Covid-appropriate conduct, according to Mayor Kishori Pednekar.
"People who live in slums today have shown that they are more civic-minded than those who live in different housing communities... People who live in slums obey the laws and procedures. So what I can do is ask that the different housing associations obey the laws "She went on to say something more.
The BMC Commissioner also claimed that high-rise buildings were responsible for 95% of the new Covid-19 cases recorded in Mumbai in the last two months. According to Mumbai's Municipal Commissioner, even trained people are dismissing the case.
