The next two days are important in Maharashtra, which is struggling with a huge rise in coronavirus cases. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned on Friday that if people did not take COVID guidance seriously, the state would be put on lockdown. He said that residents of the state are not taking the required precautions, such as wearing masks or preventing excessive travel, and that the situation in the state is wretched.
He did warn, though, that if the present situation persists, the state's health system will be deficient for the next 15-20 days. As a result, the next few days are important for Maharashtra residents. COVID rules must be closely followed.
The news comes as Maharashtra recorded 47,827 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the largest regular increase since the coronavirus pandemic started last year. The state's caseload rose to 29,04,076 cases as a result of this.Uddhav Thackeray, speaking to the people of Maharashtra via live webcast on Friday, said a lockout cannot be ruled out if the situation does not change and people do not obey the rules. He also reported that the state has 2.2 lakh isolation beds, of which 62% are filled, 48 percent of the 20,519 ICU beds are occupied, 25% of the 62,000 oxygen beds are occupied, and 25% of the 9,347 ventilators are in use. He said that despite the fact that over 65 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses have been sent out, some people are still getting poisoned after vaccination because they avoid wearing masks.
The chief minister said he cannot rule out imposing a state-wide lockdown if people become complacent. He went on to say that the state government needed to protect the poor's economies and livelihood while also saving lives.
