After a train derails in eastern Taiwan, over 36 people are killed and 72 others are injured.

Taiwan's transport ministry has confirmed that 36 people were killed in the island's deadliest train crash in more than three decades. On Friday, a train derailed in a tunnel in eastern Taiwan, killing at least 36 people and injuring 72 others. The crash occurred when the train allegedly collided with a moving vehicle.

According to Reuters, the train heading to Taitung came off the tracks in a tunnel just north of Hualien, causing several carriages to crash with the tunnel wall.According to the country's fire service, the train was carrying about 350 passengers, and the rescue operation was still ongoing at the time this report was filed.

According to news, a truck dropped from the cliff above and crashed on the rails, slamming into a train coming from a tunnel. Since some parts of the train were stuck in the tunnel, evacuating passengers were forced to climb doors, windows, and roofs to find safety.
